A life of beauty of balance begins with you at home, but that doesn’t mean you can’t take your wellness routines to-go. I’ve spent the last week traveling across Italy, but with the time zone shift and drastic weather changes, my skin was not having it. Thankfully, I’ve already developed a must-try self-care routine with beauty products that will keep your skin glowing whether you’re at home or traveling the globe. Discover my favorite skincare tips and tricks with “The Wellness Guide to Glowing Skin.”
+ Body lotion
Like many Northern California residents, I suffer from dry skin. As a teenager, my family and I spent months at a time in Lake Tahoe. Whether we were embracing the warmth of the summer sun or we were fighting the winter’s cold weather, my skin suffered from dryness, itchiness, which ultimately led to cracks in (what once used to be) my soft skin . That’s when my cosmetologist recommended Dermalogica’s Hydrating Cream (price: $34.00). To this day, it’s a product I can’t live without. Created from lactic acid and natural hydroxy acid extracts from sugar cane and apple, Dermalogica’s non-greasy formula is sure to absorb easily and provide long-lasting hydration for your skin. Not to mention Dermalogica utilizes lavender, patchouli, and orange essential oils and green tea to smooth and soften skin.
+ Drink your H20
This isn’t a secret… I’m sure most of you understand that water hydrates us, but how often are you ensuring that you’re consuming enough water to nourish your body? I often forget to drink water while I’m at work, so I’ll set Google reminders to take a break from the computer. I’ll go for a walk and grab a glass of water upon my return to keep myself as hydrated as possible throughout the day. Water nourishes the body, including our skin, so create little tricks to remind yourself to drink more H20!
+ Facial serums
Skinceuticals is one of the leading companies in skin cancer research, which led to breakthroughs utilizing antioxidants to create high potency formulas that improve overall skin health. This brand is my favorite go-to for almost any & all skin products, including their moisturizers and serums. I highly suggest you search the Skinceuticals site or consult a dermatologist to better identify what you need specifically for your skin, but these are a few of my favorite serums for overall skin care:
- C E Ferulic (price: $169.00): This product is a daytime serum composed of vitamin C, which not only protects from environmental elements, but it also improves your overall skin complexion, including the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, loss of firmness, and brightens skin’s complexion
- Hyaluronic Acid Intensifier (price: $106.00)You may have seen lifestyle blogger, Sivan Ayla, mention this serum on her blog or Instagram stories. This unique serum has a high concentration of hyaluronic acid, proxylane, and botanical extracts of licorice root and purple rice to support skin’s hyaluronic acid levels. What does this do exactly? It helps to improve the visible appearance of firmness, smoothness, and facial plumpness.
- Retexturing Acitvator (price: $86.00): Exfoliates the skin for a smooth, radiant complexion. It’s as simple as that.
+ Moisturizers
Again, Skinceuticals is my go-to for daily moisturizers. There are a few to select from and your choice will vary depending on your skintype. I have normal to dry skin, so I use the Emollience (price: $66.00) moisturizer on a daily basis. Before applying moisturizer for the day, I apply my C E Ferulic serum and let it sit for 15-30 minutes while I get dressed or style my hair for the day. Afterwards, I apply a small amount of moisturizer over the serum. Again, I wait 15-30 minutes before applying light makeup or if I’m running low on time, I’ll skip makeup completely. After all, you can’t beat glowing skin, right? Repeat again at the end of the day, but utilize a hydrating or nighttime serum in place of C E Ferulic serum and apply moisturizer prior to a good night’s sleep!
